What do I get as a winner?
Winners will receive the coveted Singapore Valley Award, a SGD 2,000 cash prize and a prestigious overseas internship experience in China with internship expenses covered by Enterprise Singapore Global Ready Talent Programme. Internship start period shall commence in 2025 for minimum period of 3 months, up to 6 months. Winners will also receive entrepreneurship training and invited to meet and grow their professional network with established founders and VCs.
Who are the partner companies for this year?
We partner with top Chinese enterprises ranging from fast growing tech companies to venture capital firms. For 2024/25, the partner companies are Ant International, ClassIn, DayDayUp, FF Capital, Macau Fund, XTransfer and 5eplay. Please note that this list is subject to change.
Will I get to choose which company I wish to intern in?
In the application form, students will be able to indicate their preferred companies of interest which are a) VC and b) high growth Chinese enterprises but will not be able to select specific companies.
Is the internship physical or remote?
SVA internships are physical overseas.
Where will I stay in China?
Students will have to source for their own accommodations in China in the city of their internship location.
Will SVA cover the cost of my internship expenses (eg. airfare, accommodation and transport) in China?
As part of the SVA application process, students will need to apply for the Global Ready Talent (GRT) Programme, an initiative by EnterpriseSG, with their respective Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) which covers the cost of the student’s internship expenses. The GRT programme covers: S$1,000 subsistence allowance per month, and a one-time travel allowance of: S$1,200 (As of 1 July 2024). In addition to the funding provided by GRT, winners will a one-off cash prize of S$2,000 in support of their entrepreneurial endeavours.
Do I have to apply for the visa myself? What visa type will I be using to enter China?
SVA has partnered with Business China in the Singapore-China Youth Interns Exchange Scheme (YES) to enable Singaporean youths to intern in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) for up to 6 months. The visa type that will be used is Z visa.
What is the difference between SVA and other internships?

Who is eligible to apply for SVA?
SVA is seeking entrepreneurial students to apply for SVA. As the SVA internship utilises the YES Visa (administered by Business China), students will need to fulfil the following criteria:
- Singaporean
- Full time undergraduate, or who have successfully completed his or her full-time studies not more than one calendar year prior to the time of application for a visa pursuant to the scheme.
- Studying/Studied in the following 6 eligible institutions: National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU), Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)

How do I apply for SVA?
The application form can be found here. Please also refer to important dates on our website. SVA will also be visiting the universities on roadshow in the month of August and September. Please look out in your school email or enquire with us at sva@tembusupartners.com.
What is the selection process for the award?
Students will be evaluated based on their responses in their applications which will include the submission of their resume and business plan . Only shortlisted students will be invited to an interview with a distinguished panel of judges. The interview will take place in-person (virtually on a case-by-case basis). During this interview, students will be assessed on their creativity and innovative thinking, interest in Chinese entrepreneurship scene, business value proposition and model.
What criteria are used to evaluate candidates for SVA? Must I have my own start-up before applying for SVA?
We are open to accepting students of all backgrounds and faculties. Students are not required to form their own start-up before applying.

Yes, students are eligible to apply for SVA even if they are on scholarship.

What is the minimum duration for the internship?
The minimum duration for the internship is 3 months, with a maximum of 6 months.
When is the expected internship period?
Students will be required to complete their internship by 31 December 2025.
Do I have to take an LOA to embark on SVA?
No, it is not necessary to undertake a Leave of Absence (LOA) with your university. The 3-month internship can be fulfilled during the summer break.
Will my internship be graded?
Students are encouraged to check with their respective universities on whether this internship fulfills the degree’s grading requirements.
Can I intern remotely in Singapore?
To maximise learning and gain a fully immersive experience in the Chinese entrepreneurial landscape, the internship is strictly an on-site internship in China.
Is it safe to work in China?
Yes, China is considered to be one of the safest cities to work, especially in big cities like Shanghai and Beijing.
