Recipients of Singapore Valley Awards will intern at fast-growing companies and venture capital funds based in China

Singapore, 18 January 2024 – Six university students have been named as 2024 recipients of the Singapore Valley Awards (“SVA”), at an awards ceremony graced by Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Education.

The SVA is an entrepreneurship competition that offers young talents the opportunity to intern with China’s leading technology companies and experience the country’s dynamic start-up ecosystem first-hand.

The winners were chosen from a pool of applicants from all six of Singapore’s Autonomous Universities, following an intensive pitch session held last November. The application pitch process required each applicant to submit a compelling brand narrative alongside a business plan to a panel of judges who each hail from think tanks, technology, and venture capital firms.

Each winner will undertake a fully sponsored 3-month long internship in Summer 2024 with one of the SVA’s six partner companies in China – 5ePlay, CTH Group, Day Day Up, Fortune Fusion Capital, Macau Qixin Investment Fund, XTransfer. They will each receive monthly allowances of S$1,500, up to S$6,000 and return air tickets.

“The Singapore Valley Awards offers our future leaders and entrepreneurs a chance at leaping right into the heart of one of the world’s most disruptive and influential entrepreneurial scenes. We hope the award winners will use this experience to gain insights into China’s meteoric rise, as well as cultivate the skill sets necessary to create new paths for Singapore’s development on the global stage,” said Ms Theodora Lai, Director, Singapore Valley Awards

“An immersive experience in China alongside the opportunity to work at some of the world’s most innovative and forward-thinking companies is an unparalleled opportunity for Singapore entrepreneurs. We were impressed by the resourcefulness and innovative thinking displayed by the students, and we believe that the Singapore Valley Awards will allow the winners to further hone their entrepreneurial skills,” said Mr Andy Lim, Chairman, Tembusu Partners

The annual awards are open to full-time undergraduates from any of the city-state’s six Autonomous Universities – National University of Singapore; Nanyang Technological University; Singapore Management University; Singapore University of Social Sciences; Singapore University of Technology and Design; and Singapore Institute of Technology.
